Team Blog: Daily activity and pictures of our experiences traveling to and serving in Mexico.

More information about One Life One Chance, our team, and previous trips can be found on the OLOC / Mexico 2015 Facebook Page

June 27th:

Thanks to your prayers and God's favour we sailed through customs and had a safe and uneventful day of travel!!

Our group arrived early this afternoon to a cool overcast sky and a beautiful waterfront here in San Diego. The team had some free time this afternoon, then met for dinner and a meeting before shutting down early for the night.

Tomorrow morning we will have breakfast together with Yarrow's team then meet our bus at 9:30. The team is in good health and excited to be travelling south of the border soon!!

 June 28th:

Good evening!! family and friends. First of all let me say sorry for posting so late. We just wanted to say that we have all made it safely to OLOC's property. After long day with a few unexpected delays thankfully we are all settled in for the night at the Hotel :)

Tomorrow morning we will meet early for an outside worship service, have some breakfast, then head out to begin our build. Please continue to pray that God would use our team to help further the effectivness of this ministry at OLOC.  Check out a few pictures from our day in the gallery above.^

June 29th:

We had a fabulous first day on site today. Pastor Rosa is an energetic and passionate individual that we are excited to partner with. There was a nice cloud cover and gentle breeze that made it very comfortable to build today. Tomorrow we will be dividing into 3 groups to go into the community to help run a VBS and visit a garbage dump to help provide a nourishing meal for those there. The team is getting along great and working well together. Thanks to all that have helped and prayed for our team!!

 June 30th:

Another great day here in Mexico. Busy and productive. Walls are up and roof is on the house build. Several teams also travelled to a local dump to hand out fresh fruit and sandwiches to some people thta forage for food there. Another team went to San Francisco (Baja, Mexico) to run a VBS in our community. Team is doing well, with no sickness at all!! Things ser going well, hopefully these pictures upload so that you get a sense of what we are up to.

 July 1st:

Today found us finishing most of our house build. It is amazing that a team of people can do so much in a few short days. After a long day swinging hammers, and painting our house is 95% complete. The team grabbed a quick snack and then returned to San Francisco, Baja for an outdoor church service. Connections are being made and new friends are being made. Thank you all for your prayers and support! Tomorrow we will be finishing off the house, painting onsite at Los Olivos, and then visiting our previous house builds.

July 2nd:

Incredible day today!! We finished making the beds and shelves inour home in preparation for the dedication tomorrow morning at 10am. From there our team divided up. One team to purchase mattresses and household items for Pastor Rosa, the other to run our last day of VBS in the San Francisco community. In the evening after supper we had the opportunity to visit our 3 previous house build families. How incredible to connect with these great people one year later. Each of the families invited us in for s mall reunion. After handing out our totes to every member of the 3 families we prayed for each other, took a picture together and said our goodbyes :(

Tomorrow? Dedication of the house, a trip to the beach, an evening birthday celebration, and then a fimal worship experience!! Coming home soon with lots of memories that we are excited to talk about!

July 3rd:

Ahh...bed!! It will be an early morning start tomorrow, 4:45 am the bus will arrive to drive us back to San Diego! Unfortunately, after the day we had today, none of us want this week to end. This morning's house dedication was a unique and encouraging experience that we can't wait to share with all of you back home. This afternoon we went to the beach for a quick dip in the Pacific, then back for an evening worship service in the partially completed Casa de Refugio building at OLOC. We are looking forward to seeing family and friends soon. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers! See you soon.

July 4th:

After a smooth and eventless day of travel we have arrived back in San Diego. OLOC had secured for us a fast pass at the border into the USA that eliminated the need to wait for long times in the sun. Today's crossing was swift and efficient.

Tonight marked the last night away for our team. With all of our responsibilities complete we used our time to join our american brothers and sisters in celebrating the Fourth of July around the Harbour. What an awesome end to an amazing week!!

July 5th:

Were home. Today we thank God for the safe travels and unique experiences of the past 8 days. God blessed our team with unity and protection allowing us to experience the richness of new friendships and the heartache of seeing his children in need. OLOC is making a difference in San Quintin. One child at a time, one family at a time, one church at a time. We are thankful for OLOC, our people at Crossroads Community Church, Yarrow Alliance Church and the many other partners that are involved in this ministry for their sacrifice, support and efforts to bring God's kingdom to earth!!

We cant wait to tell the stories! Maybe you can catch up with a team member and get a first hand account of their trip, I am sure they would be happy to share it with you!
